
Jerry D. Smith Jr., Psy.D is a clinical psychologist with the Federal Bureau of Prisons providing psychological assessment, therapeutic interventions, and expert guidance in managing federal inmates. Dr. Smith conducts psychological evaluations and reports for federal agencies and institutional staff, assesses inmates who may manifest psychosis and other mood disturbances, and provides treatment to inmates experiencing crisis and long-term segregation. Dr. Smith additionally serves as the mental health expert on a Bureau of Prison's regional Hostage Negotiation Team and is a contributing writer for the online journal Criminology and Justice.
Dr. Smith received a Doctorate of Psychology and Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology-Argosy University, a Master of Arts in Counseling from Amberton University, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Political Science from Texas A&M University.
He additionally has extensive international experience having lived in Greece, Germany, and England.
